Goldenrod

European goldenrod is a perennial plant which grows to a height of up to 3 feet in dry meadows and woods, and in sandy places in Europe and northern and western Asia. The short rootstock with many fibrous roots produces a hairy, round, striped stem with alternate, oblong-lanceolate, weakly serrate leaves, the lower ones having dilated petioles, the upper nearly sessile. The yellow flowers appear in terminal racemes or panicled racemes from July to October.
